Armenia's and Georgia's interior ministers discussed issues related to bombating crime, maintaining public order and ensuring security

A delegation headed by Minister of Internal Affairs Arpine Sargsyan left for Georgia on September 14 for a two-day working visit, the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported.

On the same day, Arpine Sargsyan was received by Georgia’s Minister of Internal Affairs, Sulkhan Tamazashvili.

An official ceremony was held during which Arpine Sargsyan and Sulkhan Tamazashvili laid wreaths at the memorial dedicated to police officers who died in the line of duty.

During the meeting, Sulkhan Tamazashvili highly praised the close partnership between the Ministries of Internal Affairs of the two countries, emphasizing that active communication provides an opportunity to make cooperation more targeted and effective.

Thanking her Georgian counterpart for the warm reception, Arpine Sargsyan emphasized that Armenia and Georgia have historically maintained strong ties based on shared values, mutual trust and friendship.

The officials discussed issues of key importance, particularly those related to combating crime, maintaining public order and ensuring security.

It was noted that modern criminal challenges are also transnational in nature; therefore, the exchange of operational information between law enforcement agencies, coordination of actions and the establishment of joint working mechanisms are of particular importance.

The sides also discussed opportunities for experience-sharing between services subordinate to the Ministries of Internal Affairs, as well as the implementation of joint programs.

During the meeting, the Ministers of Internal Affairs of Armenia and Georgia emphasized the importance of maintaining lasting peace in the South Caucasus.

The sides also discussed other issues related to bilateral cooperation and matters of mutual interest.
